Children's ‘Living Library’ garden opening in Madison
Friday, April 30: Madison Public Library will host a groundbreaking ceremony Friday, April 30 at 10 a.m. on the site of its new children’s garden, known as the ‘Living Library,’ located adjacent to the library building at 130 Plaza Blvd. in Madison, AL.
The Children's Living Library will be the first of its kind for any library in Alabama and possibly the country. Local professional landscape architect Lori Severin with 4Site, Inc. has donated the design of the garden which will include features such as a life-sized Scrabble board, a mini-amphitheater for story time, a Madison County soil history display, a vegetable garden, and a boat dock with ship. The scenes throughout the garden will be tied to themes from beloved childhood storybooks such as Charlotte's Web and Where the Wild Things Are. When complete, the garden will be free to enter and open to everyone.
