Final Big Read events
We are nearing the end of our 2010 Big Read programming. We hope you can join us for these final events!
- Tuesday, April 27, 7:00 pm: "Plumbing the Depths of Mark Twain", another great presentation by Dr. Jennifer Garlen. Dr. Garlen will discuss the darker side of Twain that is represented in his later works. (Main Library 2nd Floor Events Room)
- Thursday, April 29, 9:30 am: LearningQUEST: Film Screening of "Mark Twain - A Film Directed by Ken Burns" (Main Library Auditorium)
- Thursday, April 29, 4:00 pm: Becky Thatcher Tea Party (Main Library, Youth Services Department)
- Thursday, April 29, 6:00 pm: "Traditional Music Concert", featuring a program of music selections from Southern Appalachian folk history. (Main Library Atrium)
- Saturday, May 1, 11:00 am: "Picnics & Picket Fences". Everyone is invited to bring a picnic lunch to the Garden for a fun, modern twist on the fence "whitewashing" of Tom Sawyer's day. Admission to the Garden is free with the donation of a new children's book. (Huntsville Botanical Garden)
Also, IMP Presents "Big River: The Musical Adaptation of Huckleberry Finn", Lee Lyric Theater at Lee High School. The play is scheduled for the following dates and times:
