1, 2, 3... It’s Kiwanis Little Learners!
THIS PROGRAM IS NOW FULL. TO BE PLACED ON A WAITING LIST, PLEASE EMAIL ESHADE [at] HMCPL [dot] ORG
1, 2, 3... It’s Kiwanis Little Learners! The Huntsville Madison County Public Library is pleased to announce the return of the innovative Kiwanis Little Learners Project. Part reference center, part workshop, part play space, Kiwanis Little Learners offers parents, grandparents or caregivers a place to help their toddlers have fun while developing pre-reading skills. This series of workshops for the winter are now open for registration. They’re free and open to parents, grandparents or caregivers and their little learner aged 1 to 3 years.
This is a five week program. Each workshop focuses on a different topic with a specialist on-site to answer questions. Topics for the workshops include speech, nutrition, child development and physical fitness.
All workshops meet at 3:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Main Library. The dates for these workshops are: February 1, February 8, February 15, February 22, March 1. Participants agree to attend at least 4 out of the 5 workshop dates.
“It’s very important to start children on the path to reading as early as possible.” said Laurel Best, Executive Director of the Huntsville Madison County Public Library, “This program gives pre-readers a jump-start to future success.” The Kiwanis Little Learners Project is made possible by a generous grant from the Kiwanis Club of Huntsville. There are four core elements to this project; additional staff training, hands-on workshops, a resource center and play space. The resource center and play space will be unveiled in the near future, located in the Main Library Youth Services area.
