Adventures by Boat: America’s Great Loop and Beyond
Most of us enjoy “seeing the USA” by highway. For Liz and Bob Stagg, long-distance travel is often synonymous with waterways! A network of rivers, bays, and canals makes it possible to travel from the Tennessee River to Florida, up the east coast to Canada, through historic canals to Lake Michigan, then home again via the Mississippi River. With photos and stories, the Staggs will describe their year-long “Great Loop” adventure on their 34-foot power catamaran. They will also share highlights of other recent voyages, including a small-boat trip with three other couples through the canals of France.
About the Speakers
Long-time Huntsville residents Bob and Liz Stagg retired in 2004 from long careers at Teledyne Brown Engineering. Their love of water has sparked a variety of boating adventures: from the Tennessee River to the St. Lawrence Seaway, to the canals of France. When not on a boat, the Staggs are active in a number of Huntsville civic organizations.
