Digital Age Job Seekers Series

Our last session in this series is this Thursday at 9:30 am and 5:30 pm in the Main branch's second floor events room. It will cover how to master the job interview and how to "dress for success!"

Although the classes in this series are designed for middle career job seekers, and those using online resources for the first time in their job search, all career levels can benefit from the course material. The first 5 sessions in the series will be taught in the Computer Training Center. Please call 256-532-2356 to reserve a space each class. Job Sites on the Internet
Thursday, January 20
9:30 a.m. – 12 noon and 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.
This class explores online job sites. Bring a resume on a flash drive and post to a job site.
 
Resumes in Word
Thursday, January 27
9:30 – 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
This one hour class shows students how to use resume templates and wizards in Word and the resume form in Infopath to create a powerful, job-winning resume.
 
Learning Express Library
Thursday, February 3
1:30 – 4 p.m. and 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.
This database contains interactive online courses and practice tests for job searching and skill building. Basic Internet experience is required.
 
Researching Employers
Thursday, February 10
1:30 – 4 p.m. and 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.
Learn to use Internet and library resources, such as ReferenceUSA, to locate and research companies. These resources will help the job seeker find companies they want to work for and conduct research on a specific company to prepare for an interview.
 
Tweet My Job
Thursday, February 17
9:30 a.m. – 12 noon and 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.
Learn to use social networking tools such as Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook, to network your way into a new job!
 
Mastering the Interview
Thursday, February 24
9:30 am- 10:30 am and 5:30 pm- 6:30 pm - Attention: This afternoon session has been canceled. Intstead, this session will be incorporated into next week's session, "Dress of Success."
