The Great Big Book Bash
After all the hardships that North Alabama has faced, admission to this year's Great Big Book Bash is now FREE!
The Library Foundation’s Annual Great Big Book Bash program is back again to give children and families a chance to interact with their favorite authors. This year, the Great Big Book Bash will serve as a kick-off to our Summer Reading Program on May 21, 2011 at the Main Branch Library. Two sessions will be hosted featuring two different authors.
The morning session is focused on children pre-school age to 2nd grade and will feature “song singer, tale teller, music maker” NY Times Best-Selling Author Eric Litwin, author of Pete the Cat. Eric is a popular performing artist who plays interactive music, tells musical stories and brings books to life. He plays at schools and libraries across the country. Mr. Eric has won a Parents Choice Award, iParenting Media Award, The Children’s Music Web Award and many more. He is the co-creator of The Learning Groove which offers parent and child music classes.
The afternoon session is focused on older elementary and middle-school students and will feature Sam Bartlett, musician and author of Stuntology. Sam is a 25-year master entertainer and tour guide to the fabulous world of Stuntology. The “Stuntology” program mixes education, silliness and entertainment for a wonderful family event. Kids of all ages will love the familiar and not-so-familiar tricks and stunts that he demonstrates. Bartlett involves children in both the demonstration and the execution of the stunts.
Thanks to a grant by the Alabama License/Tag "Support the Arts" program, admission for the Great Big Book Bash has been waived! Everyone is invited to attend!
