Summer Solstice Poetry Festival
Celebrate summer, and let your creativity run free during our special poetry programs on June 14th and June 21st.
We are thrilled to present two special programs conducted by accomplished local poet, Ruth Braswell, of the Limestone Dust Poetry Festival. Both programs will take place in the second floor events room of our Main branch, from 6:30 pm to approximately 8 pm. Both programs are open to the public, free, and no registration is required.
June 14th: How to do Things: Write poetry
You are invited to attend a free one-time poetry-writing class, taught by accomplished local poet, Ruth Braswell, of the Limestone Dust Poetry Festival. This class is appropriate for adults and mature youth. Please just bring a writing utensil and as much paper as you'll need to create your masterpiece! (Or a laptop.)
June 21st: Summer Solstice Open Mic Poetry Reading
If you're a poet, and you know it, here's your opportunity to let everyone else know, too. Share the poem you wrote during the previous week's workshop, or read another original work. Poets will read in the order they sign up, with sign-ups beginning 30 minutes prior to the start of the program, (6 pm) in the second floor events room of our Main branch.
Please contact Luisa at lmorenilla [at] hmcpl [dot] org with any questions.
