Athletic Advantage: Presented by the Staff of SportsMED
No matter what kind of athletic activity you'll be participating in this summer, it's important to take care of your body to stay healthy and get the most out of your performance. Learn new habits and practices that will keep you on top of your game, on June 30.
We are pleased to partner with SportsMED Orthopaedic Surgery and Spine Center to present this free comprehensive and interactive program about how you can keep yourself in top shape for enjoying and excelling in sports. This program will cover basic sports medicine, as well sports psychology and sports nutrition, presented by experts on staff at SportsMED.
It will take place on June 30 at 6:30 pm in the auditorium of our Main branch. It is free and open to the public, but we request that you RSVP using the form at: http://hmcpl.org/events/2011-06/athletic-advantage-presented-staff-sportsmed so we know how many people to expect.
Please contact Luisa with any questions at lmorenilla [at] hmcpl [dot] org.

Huntsville - Madison County Public Library's “Help Yourself to Health” Initiative
Did you know that people ask more questions about their cell phone plan then they ask their doctor? That’s about to change with Huntsville Madison County Library’s Help Yourself to Health initiative. This program provides access to valuable health information for the community.
“Health literacy plays a pivotal role in the lives and well being of our community. It’s important that the Library is there to provide the information.” said Laurel Best, Executive Director of Huntsville Madison County Public Library.
Help Yourself to Health is a year-long project that features special events, educational forums, community outreach programs and access to Medline Plus Health Library, a non commercial information source. All events and forums are free to the public.
“We want to empower people with health knowledge.” Rosalind Lett, Associate Director of Public Services at the Huntsville Madison County Public Library, commented on the initiative. “So when people talk to their healthcare professionals they can ask the right questions.”
The Help Yourself to Health Initiative has been made possible by a grant from National Library of Medicine.
