“The Fundamentals of Freelancing” is for anyone interested in writing or editing for newspapers, magazines, and websites. The presentation will cover everything from getting started, making contacts, and finding job opportunities to researching and writing articles, billing, and building your business. It will also address some of the challenges of being self-employed, working from home, and trying to get paid! (Please note it will not delve into writing a book or getting a book published.)


Diana LaChance is a freelance writer and editor (and chai tea latte addict!) living in Huntsville, Alabama. Although she specializes in travel writing, human interest pieces, and pretty much anything with a creative bent, she also does plenty of technical writing on subjects ranging from cryogenic propellants to biomedical innovation. Diana’s work has been published in both local and regional publications, including Spark Magazine, The Valley Planet, The Huntsville Times, R&D Magazine, UAHuntsville News Online, Crestwood Pulse, UAHuntsville Alumni Update, At Home Magazine, Cohesion Magazine, 615 Magazine, Culture & Leisure Magazine, and more.
