Meet the Author: Hester Bass
How did a game show, a hurricane, and a fairy tale help a childhood dream come true? Find out when award-winning author Hester Bass talks about her work on Sunday, September 30, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Main Library auditorium.
Hester writes for children, but her story is one that will appeal to all ages. In her award-winning picture book, The Secret World of Walter Anderson, Hester tells how a young boy from New Orleans became the “most famous American artist you’ve never heard of.” In her talk, she'll tell how a dreamy first-grader became an award-winning author. She also will share the journey of this book to publication and what it was like to work with the illustrator, E. B. Lewis, and the Walter Anderson family. You'll discover details that didn't make it into the book.
