Meet President Abraham Lincoln -- in the person of Lincoln presenter John Voehl -- on Tuesday, December 11, at 6:30 p.m. in the atrium of the main Huntsville-Madison County Public Library. Admission is free.
Learn what life was like in the White House of the 1860s, including Christmas celebrations. When he was researching his role as Lincoln, Voehl said he discovered that our modern image of Santa Claus owes much to a drawing Lincoln commissioned from artist Thomas Nast of Santa visiting Union soldiers.

"As the 16th President, I was the first Republican, the first with a beard, the tallest, the first born outside of the original 13 colonies, the only one with a patent, the one who granted the most pardons, probably the strongest and one of the few poets." -- John Voehl in character as Lincoln.
