Keep Watching the Skies II

Join us as we continue our exploration of Hollywood science fiction films, this time from the 1960s.

All movies are shown at 6 p.m. in the second-floor events room at the Main Library. Admission is free.

August 5:

Village of the Damned (1960) George Sanders, Barbara Shelley. Strange happenings in a small English village. A surprisingly chilling low-budget classic.

August 12:

The Time Machine (1960) Rod Taylor, Yvette Mimieux. George Pal’s retelling of H.G. Wells’ famous story of time travel into the future.

August 19:

Planet of the Apes (1968) Charlton Heston. An instant pop culture phenomenon, this film spawned many sequels and remakes over the years. See the original.

August 26:

2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) Stanley Kubrick’s film was a rite of passage of the late '60s. 2001 was groundbreaking in its spectacular special effects and attention to scientific detail.
