Sure, we promote reading. We're a library after all. But did you know we promote good writing, too? Two new writing groups target our teenage patrons.
The South Huntsville Teen Writers Group meets at the Bailey Cove Public Library, 1409 Weatherly Plaza. The group offers teens a change to improve their creative writing skills through constructive feedback. The group will meet twice a month: first Tuesdays at 6 p.m. and second Saturdays at 11 a.m. from January through April. Space is limited. To sign up or for more information, contact Julia Hendon at 256-881-0257 or email@example.com at Bailey Cove Library, or Haley Whaley at 256-881-5620 or firstname.lastname@example.org at Eleanor E. Murphy Library.
At the Madison Public Library, young aspiring writers will have the opportunity to gather with other wordy teens to share their pieces, complete writing challenges, and expand their wordsmith abilities in the Teen Writing Group. Writers are encouraged to bring pieces they’ve already written. Meetings are scheduled for Thursday, January 9, and Thursday, February 6, at 5 p.m. The program is free, but you must register in advance. Contact Rebecca Doom at email@example.com or 256-461-0046.
