Participate in fun runs and relay races, get your questions answered at a parenting health fair, touch big trucks, eat some birthday cake, learn about animals, AND sign up for Summer Reading!

Fizz, Boom, READ! encourages children to explore and discover the world inside them and all around them through stories, songs, games, puppets, and other activities that promote STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.

Spark a Reaction is geared to our teenage readers.

Adults can join the fun with Literary Elements. Adult Summer Reading will run from Tuesday, June 3, to Monday, September 1. Take a bookcation, and make time for yourself to READ! Participate online by registering, logging your reading, and entering reviews here: http://hmcpl.org/adultsummer. At the end of the program, there will be a drawing for prizes, and one lucky participant will be randomly selected to win a Kindle eReader.

The library's partnering organization for 2014 is Huntsville Hospital, which offers programs that teach our youth how to keep their bodies happy and healthy.

New programmers as well as favorite friends from years past are collaborating with our librarians. First-timers include local meteorologists, MindGear Labs, Therapy Partners, the Bob Jones Robotics Team, and Makers Local. Returning to the library are HudsonAlpha, Waymon Krugh, Alabama Youth Ballet, Earth Fare, Curt Cearley the Owl Guy, Animal Tales, and Huntsville Drumline.

Throughout the summer at all 12 library branches, we’ll have animal programs, learn about genetics and inherited traits, enjoy the magic of science and math, eat healthy foods and learn how they help our bodies, and stimulate our brains with art programs.

Best of all, everything’s free! Just pick up a Summer Reading packet and grow your brain this summer.
