4th annual Helen P. Lee Fun Run

Join us as The Friends of the Madison County Public Library help celebrate the library's birthday with a Fun Run for ages 0 - 9 years, complete with stroller and toddler races!    

The 4th Annual Helen P. Lee Fun Run will begin at 8 a.m. and will include a morning of fun runs, goofy relays, crafts, birthday cake  in celebration of the library's birthday.

Monday Night Bollywood Movie Series

Take a trip to Bollywood this summer! It's closer than you think- and it's free. Join us as we enjoy these fascinating Indian films from June 6-July 18, with the exception of July 4th (we will be closed).

 

All movies will take place at 5:30 pm in the Main branch's second floor events room.

Summer Solstice Poetry Festival

Celebrate summer, and let your creativity run free during our special poetry programs on June 14th and June 21st.

We are thrilled to present two special programs conducted by accomplished local poet, Ruth Braswell, of the Limestone Dust Poetry Festival. Both programs will take place in the second floor events room of our Main branch, from 6:30 pm to approximately 8 pm. Both programs are open to the public, free, and no registration is required.

How to do Things: Speak in Public on May 24

Take the first step to conquering your fear of speaking in public at this informative and interactive session led by Lee Demory of the Redstone Toastmasters.

If you're afraid of speaking in public, you're not alone! Fortunately, this common fear can be overcome. And becoming an effective public speaker can lead to greater confidence and success in both your professional and personal ambitions.

Memorial Day Documentaries

Join us in commemorating Memorial Day this year with two iconic war documentaries: A classic from the World War II era, and a modern day account of combat in Afghanistan.

The first, on Monday, May 23, is an OSCAR winning classic  World War II documentary, Prelude to War, and the second, Restrepo, on Tuesday, May 31, is an acclaimed, candid account of the current war in Afghanistan. Read more about Memorial Day Documentaries

The Great Big Book Bash

After all the hardships that North Alabama has faced, admission to this year's Great Big Book Bash is now FREE!

The Library Foundation’s Annual Great Big Book Bash program is back again to give children and families a chance to interact with their favorite authors.  This year, the Great Big Book Bash will serve as a kick-off to our Summer Reading Program on May 21, 2011 at the Main Branch Library.    Two sessions will be hosted featuring two different authors.   Read more about The Great Big Book Bash
