Design the New Teen Library Graphic: An Art Contest for Teens

Teens are invited to create  a new library design of their dreams!  The artwork will be turned in, judged, and a winner declared.  The winning artwork will appear on a limited edition library card and other library promotions during the year 2011.  This contest is open to all Teens (ages 12-18).

Here’s another terrific database that often gets lost among the many resources offered online by the Library.  Opposing Viewpoints in Context, available on the Alabama Virtual Library, is one of those practical databases that provide excellent information for school assignments ranging from middle school to the first two years of college.  Essentially, it’s an online resource covering today’s hottest social issues from offshore drilling to climate change, from healthcare to immigration.  Read more about Opposing Viewpoints in Context

How to do Things!: Digital Photography 101

In this introductory level class, you will learn basic technical aspects of using a digital camera, as well as photographic techniques that will give you a strong foundation for a lifetime enjoyment of digital photography.

This class will take place in the Computer Training Center in the Main branch, from 6:30 to 8 pm. Please bring your charged digital camera with you. Both SLR (cameras with removable lenses) and "point and shoot" cameras are welcome. Read more about How to do Things!: Digital Photography 101

Huntsville Heritage Room presents "Sitting Up With the Dead", with guest speaker Bob Davis from Wallace State Community College on Friday, Oct. 8, 6-11 p.m.
