Meet Gus Whaley

This summer, the children of Huntsville and Madison County read 6,045 hours!

Our sponsors donated money for every hour read. At the end of the summer, it was enough that we were able to adopt a humpback whale from the Oceanic Society. They also gave him his name: Gus Whaley.

The Oceanic Society had this to say:

"Dear Summer Readers of the Huntsville Madison County Public Library, congratulations on reading 6,045 hours this past summer! You have more than earned your adoption of a humpback whale!" Read more about Meet Gus Whaley

Triana Public Library: The Comeback Story

On September 29, 2009 the Triana Public Library burned, leaving a cherished community center in ashes.  Coming back from a devastating fire is not easy, but the library is on its way thanks to the Lowes Heroes program.

A few days shy of the fire’s one year anniversary, employees from four Lowes stores will be rolling up their sleeves to help build picnic tables, a reading deck and landscape the portable building the Triana Public Library now occupies. Read more about Triana Public Library: The Comeback Story
