Chinese New Year Celebration: Year of the Tiger

Saturday, February 13: Family-friendly event with lots of activities for kids. See Chinese music, art and dance as well as martial arts demonstrations, fashion shows, and a wide variety of children's activities. Many of Huntsville's Chinese restaurants will provide food for the evening. Tickets are $15 for adults (age 16 and up), $10 for teens (ages 11-15), and free for kids 10 and under. Read more »

The medical and nursing editors from EBSCO Publishing (EBSCO) are offering the latest evidence-based, flu-related information for free. www.ebscohost.com/flu has continuously updated, evidence-based clinical information from DynaMed and Nursing Reference Center, EBSCO's clinical and nursing point-of-care databases, along with patient education information in 17 languages from Patient Education Reference Center. Snowflake Party!

Thursday, Jan. 21: Kids and families are invited to join us for an evening of snowy-tastic fun! You will get to make your very own marshmallow snow-person, cut paper snowflakes, listen to snowy-wonderful stories, and enjoy refreshments and each other’s company. 6pm, Eleanor Murphy Branch. Triana Public Library closed

HMCPL receives grant from Huntsville Hospital

The HMCPL is a recipient of the 2009-2010 Huntsville Hospital Community Health Initiative Grant! The Library will use this money to create an attractive collection of information and resources available online, in the library, and in the community which will address the physical, emotional, and mental health of today's teens. The project will be named The Pulse to echo the idea of monitoring and maintaining the health of the Madison County teen population while creating a catchphrase for the teens to use. Read more »

Digital Media Zone

Now your library never closes! The Huntsville Library Foundation is pleased to announce the Digital Media Zone--a digital library where HMCPL card holders can browse, check out, and download best-selling and classic audiobooks, ebooks, music and video. The new Digital Media Zone is available any time of day from any computer. And there are never any late fees because titles are automatically returned at the end of the loan period!
