Library Services Platform Proposal Update

I wanted to provide everyone with a brief update.  The Library Services Platform committee is still in the process of reviewing technical responses.  We appreciate your patience.

Library Services Platform Proposal Response

Our library services platform technical response opening took place on Friday, 1/18.  The following vendors responded to our RFP:

  • Auto-Graphics
  • ByWater Solutions
  • Innovative Interfaces
  • OCLC
  • Polaris
  • SirsiDynix
  • VTLS

We will continue our review process through February and March.  As we narrow the group of responses, we will contact selected vendors for on-site demonstrations.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Sherry Sakovich

Library Services Platform Proposal Opening Rescheduled

Due to inclement weather, the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library is closing at 1:30pm today, Thursday, January 17th.

As a result, the library services platform proposal opening has been rescheduled to Friday, January, 18th, 1:00pm in the Main Library Boardroom, 915 Monroe Street, Hunstville, AL.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this causes.

Thanks so very much,

Sherry Sakovich

Addenda #21: Demonstrations

Question:

The request for proposal wasn’t too specific on demonstrations.  I’m assuming you will have your top choices in for demos, do you have an idea when that might be, or is it too soon to know? Read more »

Addenda #20: Sealed Pricing Submittal

Question:

Can you please clarify the submittal requirement for the Sealed Pricing.  How many copies of this do you require and is this required as an electronic copy in addition to the printed copy?

Answer:

For the sealed pricing, we request one printed copy and an electronic copy is not necessary.

Addenda #19: Content Enrichment Services

Question:

If you currently use content enrichment services (Syndetics), is your contract directly with the vendor? Or is it part of your ILS contract?

Answer:

We currently use Syndetics and our contract with them is through our ILS vendor.  Additionally, we use ChiliFresh which we contract ourselves.

Addenda #18: Scripting Services

Question:

Please explain scripting services. Is this in reference to 3rd party databases?

Answer:

By scripting services, we mean the programming languages that have access to your system’s APIs which will allow us to perform data extraction, manipulation, ad hoc reports, and system maintenance.

Addenda #17: Supported Peripherals

Question:

Please explain ‘supported peripherals’.

Answer:

By “supported peripherals” we mean any devices or hardware that must interface with the software such as receipt or laser printers, barcode scanners, RFID pads,  tablets, handheld scanners, etc.

Addenda #16: Book Vendors and EDI

Question:

Who is your primary book vendor?   Are you using EDI at this time?

Answer:

Our primary book vendors are Baker & Taylor, Brodart, and Midwest Tape.  We are currently not using EDI but have used it in the past.  However, we would like EDI functionality available to us should we decide to return to this process.
