Local author Jerry Armor will be in house to discuss his new book "A Home for Wayward Boys: The Early History of the Alabama Boys' Industrial School." This new work of history tells the fascinating story of the founding in 1900 of the Alabama Boys' Industrial School. A Home for Wayward Boys is also the remarkable tale of a nineteenth century woman determined to find a better solution than incarcerating young boys with adult offenders. Books will be available for sale and signing at the event.
Free! We will show the film Interstellar starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, in which a crew of astronauts travels through a wormhole in search of a new home for humanity. Immediately following the film, Dr. Gang Li from UAHs Space Science program will host a discussion surrounding some of the themes presented in the film, such as relativity theory and black holes. Dr. Li is a Principle Research Scientist at CSAR and currently teaches General Relativity.
Please come early, as space is limited for this event.
