Big Read events for adults

As part of The Big Read, we're featuring a month of events focusing on Mark Twain's novel, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Here are a few notable upcoming events for adults:

Becky Thatcher Tea Party

Location: Tillman D. Hill Public Library
Date: Tuesday, April 27, 2010 - 4:00pm - 5:00pm

The Becky Thatcher Tea Party is for ages 5-8 and will generate excitement for the characters in "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer." Attendees will enjoy a real tea service with an etiquette coach to provide tips on the proper behavior at the table. Tom Sawyer - Reader's Theatre

Location: Madison Public Library
Date: Thursday, April 8, 2010 - 4:00pm - 5:00pm

Come experience 'The Adventures of Tom Sawyer' through Reader's Theatre. Children will be given the opportunity to perform select scenes from this classic. Memorization is not required. All scripts will be available a week prior to event. Please see Ms Maggie for more information or a script. Event is intended for school age children.

Princesses, Pirates, and Buried Treasure: Fun with Tom and Friends Puppet Show

Location: Bailey Cove Branch Library

The Huntsville-Madison County Public Library's Puppet Troupe is back for another fun and busy tour with the show "Princesses, Pirates, and Buried Treasure: Fun with Tom and Friends". The show follows the adventures of Tom Sawyer and his friends Huckleberry Finn and Becky Thatcher. Stories featured in the show: The tall tale of Stormalong, our fractured version of Rapunzel, and a fun bear hunt. Of course there will also be music, dancing, and lots of surprises!
