Anissa Graham, a native of Columbus, GA, will discuss how Phenix City was and is viewed by those who live across the Chattahoochee River.  The presentation will focus on the symbiotic relationship of the two towns, from the 1950s to the present.  “Up from The Ashes,” the documentary about Phenix City will also be shown.

In partnership with the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library and in support of the 2011 Community Wide Read, Family & MWR Library on Redstone Arsenal is having an Open House on April 5, 2011, from 10 am-6 pm.  The Library will also feature Homer Hickam's memoir October Sky/Rocket Boys, giving away copies of October Sky/Rocket Boys and related books for children. In partnership with local bars, Stem & Stein, The Nook, Bandito Burrito Southside, the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library will be kicking off their Community Wide Read for the book Wicked City by Ace Atkins. Local brewery, Straight to Ale, has created the “Wicked City” porter with the book’s setting and time period in mind and the brew will be on tap for bar patrons to purchase.
