Join us for a brand new book club at Bailey Cove Library, "Book vs. Movie"! On odd months (September, November, January, etc.) we will watch a feature film that was adapted from the plot of a book. On the even months (October, December, February, etc.) we will take an hour to discuss the book from which the film was derived, and decide which one wins in a contest of "book vs. movie". It is highly recommended that you read the book *before* attending the film for best results. Brown-bag lunches are welcome! Drinks will be provided. Read more about Book vs. Movie: City of Bones

Hezekiah T. Cleveland is the young, handsome, and charismatic pastor of the mega church New Testament Cathedral in Los Angeles. He is married to Reverend Samantha Cleveland, a beautiful, sensuous, ambitious, and equally charismatic minister. Samantha is the power behind Hezekiah and New Testament Cathedral. She runs the church and their national television ministry from behind the scenes with a firm, and sometimes cruel, hand. Together they are building a new 25,000 seat mega church.
Hezekiah meets a handsome and passionate social worker named Danny St. John, and the two men fall in love. As they struggle to keep their relationship a secret, Hezekiah alone grapples with the conflict between his religious convictions and his love for a man. Hezekiah comes to the conclusion that he must choose between Danny and his wife.
Samantha has grown bitter and resentful of living in Hezekiah's shadow. She views him as the man who stands between her and the absolute power she desperately craves. She decides to take over the New Testament Cathedral and rid herself of Hezekiah permanently. She seduces and conspires with Hezekiah's nemesis, Reverend Willie Mitchell. Together they conclude that Hezekiah must be killed.
During the Sunday morning sermon in which Hezekiah is about to reveal the double life that he has been living, a shot rings out in the cavernous New Testament Cathedral sanctuary. Hezekiah is killed in front of a live television audience and the shocked members of his congregation. During the pandemonium, Samantha Cleveland skillfully portrays the role of a shocked, frightened, and bereaved wife.
Samantha is installed as the Pastor of New Testament Cathedral after much behind the scenes manipulations. She is praised and embraced by the congregation members as a selfless, God fearing woman who, despite her tragic loss and through her grief, places the good of the ministry and the spiritual well-being of those in need before her own. How long will she be able to carry on this charade? Read more about Come Sunday Morning
Life is close to perfect for the Reverend Curtis Black and his wife, Charlotte—except their son Matthew and his girlfriend, Racquel, are about to become parents at the tender age of eighteen. Even though Curtis and Charlotte wish Matthew could focus on Harvard instead of fatherhood, they are determined to welcome their new grandson with open arms. But for Charlotte, welcoming her future in-laws is another story. Try as she might, Charlotte can't stand Racquel's mother, Vanessa—and the feeling appears to be mutual.
When the tension between Charlotte and Vanessa finally erupts, the stress sends an already-fragile Racquel into early labor. Everyone is quick to blame Charlotte, including Matthew and Curtis. Of course, this infuriates Charlotte—the idea that her husband would side with someone else—and it strains the relationship she and Curtis have only recently been able to repair. Her one ally, though, is Racquel's father, but that brings problems of its own.
While Charlotte schemes against Vanessa, Curtis is consumed with his own concerns about Deliverance Outreach. A mysterious figure from his past has been sending Curtis cryptic messages threatening to take away Curtis's coveted position as senior pastor and destroy everything he has worked so hard for. But who could hate Curtis that much? And how can he fight an enemy he can't even name?
Times of trouble are descending upon the Black family in more ways than one. Will they be able to overcome their challenges and stand together against someone who could take it all away? Or is the Black family finally out of miracles?
