Tech Topic -- Smartphones

This week's discussion will center on smartphones: What are they? What are the pros and cons? What are superphones? How are they different from tablets or ereaders?

Tech Topics are a regular series of discussions about computing topics. There will be no hands-on work, but you should have basic Internet experience. Class will be held in the second floor Events Room.

Online Job Application Skills

A class to help those who must apply for jobs online to learn more about what is required and how to apply. Participants will receive a sample job application with information that may be required, and once they've gathered it, they can sign up for personalized assistance from a librarian to complete an actual job application onine. Keyboarding, Internet, and PC skills are helpful for the personalized lab portion of the class.

Examine popular presentation software and create and modify a basic presentation in class with PowerPoint Wizards. You should already have: Basic PC Skills. Basic Word Skills are helpful.

Tech Topic -- Cloud Computing

Have you ever watched those commercials on TV and wondered what "the cloud" is that everyone keeps going to?

This free one-hour discussion will introduce you to "the cloud", what it is, and what impact it is having on computing. There will be no hands-on computer instruction, so you are welcome to attend as long as you have some basic understanding of the Internet.
