Sherlockian Shirts - TEENS

Design and make your own Sherlock-themed t-shirt one of two ways: use fabric markers and stencils to add color to a plain white tee, or go the opposite way and lighten up a black tee with bleach pens. (You bring the shirt, we’ll supply the pens!)

Piece Problem Art - Family Painting

The family that paints together, has fun together. On Saturday, April 6th at 10am, make your own Sherlock-inspired art piece to take home. 4x4 canvas panels will be provided for you to paint and take home to display. Can you solve the mystery?

Dr Who Club - British Invasion

Location: Madison Public Library
Date: Thursday, April 4, 2013 - 6:00pm - 7:30pm

Whovians, on Thursday, April 4th @ 6pm, prepare yourselves for a British invasion. In honor of another British great, we’ll be designing and making our own Sherlock-themed tea cups and saucers using Sharpie markers. Stencils, suggested quotes, markers, and cups and saucers will be provided. Take your masterpiece home and bake it to make it last as long as Sherlock Holmes' legacy!

Mad Knitters

Do you have a knitting question about a current project?  Are you stuck and don't know what to do?  If so, come to the Madison Public Library on Tuesday, January 15, at 6:30 p.m. for free knitting help.  We will meet in the Reading Room.

Valentine's Day Painting Class

Date: Friday, February 1, 2013 - 10:00am - 12:00pm

Paint a Valentine's Day-themed painting at the Madison Public Library on Friday, February 1, at 10:00 a.m.  Each person will have four 4"x4" canvases to paint.  Give these to your significant other for Valentine's Day or use them to decorate your home.

This class is open to ages 18+ and the supply fee is $5.  Space is limited so reservations are required.

Crochet Class

Date: Thursday, January 24, 2013 - 5:30pm - 7:30pm

Learn the basics of crochet on Thursday, January 24, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Madison Public Library.  This class is free and open to ages 18 and older.  Space is limited so registration is required.

Please bring a crochet needle (size G or larger) and a ball of yarn.  This class will meet in the Reading Room.

Weave a Round Basket

Location: Madison Public Library
Date: Friday, February 22, 2013 - 9:00am - 3:00pm

Crystal Kitchens will teach a weaving class at the Madison Public Library on Friday, February 22, from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. 

In this workshop, you’ll make a round basket.  You’ll learn how to handle basket reed, how to start a round basket, and how to shape a basket.  The finished baskets will be about 6 inches tall with a 5-inch diameter base.  You can use colored reed and beads to decorate your baskets.  No experience is required.

Special Guest Ms. Kim from Sci-Quest will teach us all about what makes up the books we love: PAPER!

Ms. Mandy will read stories and then as a group, we’ll make our own paper.

Join us Tuesday, January 15th at 11:00 am for the fun!

This class is for children ages 2-5, and requires a materials fee of $8, payable at Sci-Quest or via the website at https://sci-quest.org/

Teen Night At Monrovia

Making a scarf from a t-shirt is fun and easy.  All teens age 12-18 are invited to learn how to make t-shirt scarves at our monthly teen night.  Contact 256-489-3392 for more information.  You can sign up for this event via phone or at the circulation desk at Monrovia Library.  You will need to bring your own t-shirt (or more than one if you want to do more than one scarf) to this event.
