Chinese New Year 2012 at Russell

Celebrate Chinese New Year with the Russell Branch on January 23, 2012 beginning at 3:30pm.

Come join us in celebrating the Chinese New Year!  2012 is the year of the dragon!  There will be crafts of paper lantern making and creating dragon masks.

Quill With Us At Monrovia

Please join us on February 2, 6:30 to 8pm at Monrovia Library as we learn the art of quilling.

We will be making simple 5x7 pictures using recycled magazines for quilling paper, mounted on scrapbook pages.  Please call 256-489-3392 to sign up!

Weave a Round Basket @ Madison

Join us Friday, January 27, at Madison and weave a round basket! In this workshop you'll learn how to handle basket reed, how to start a round basket, and how to shape a basket. The finished products will be about 6 inches tall with a 5-inch diameter base. You can use colored reed and beads to decorate your baskets. No experience is required.

If you've already woven a round basket, you'll have the option of weaving a double wall basket, or a basket over a quart jar (bring your own jar). If there is enough time, you can weave another basket, starting with a wooden base.

This is wet work, so wear old clothes and bring a towel. The instructor will bring the supplies you'll need during the workshop.

Space is limited so sign up today!

 

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Cost: $8 supply fee

Instructor: Crystal Kitchens

Open to adults and youth ages 14 and up.

Bring a sack lunch.
