We are proud to present author Tina Savas who will be speaking about the fascinating and acclaimed book that she co-authored with Edie Hand, Women of True Grit.

This program will be at 6:30 pm in the Main brach auditorium.

Books will be available for purchase and signing. This program is free and open to the public. Financial donations will be happily accepted, and receipts for donations are available.

"Pride and Passion" lecture by author Larry Lester

Location: Main Library
Date: Wednesday, April 27, 2011 - 6:30pm - 8:00pm

Larry Lester, co-founder of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Missouri, and author of several books on the Negro Leagues, will touch briefly, but distinctly, on each of the six historical panels from 1860 to present day. He will dedicate a substantial portion of the program to answering questions, and will be selling and signing his books at this event.

This program will take place in the second floor events room of our Main branch. It is free and open to the public.

Joe Formichella, author of Here's to You, Jackie Robinson, will speak about the importance of baseball for the black community in general and how it changed the lives of a generation of young black boys in Mobile in particular. He will answer questions, and will have books for sale at this event.
