The dynamic co-writing duo are back with their latest novel release, "UPTOWN", a novel as big a New York City itself. Great Big Book Bash is an annual children's author/illustrator event sponsored by the Huntsville Public Library Foundation and Primrose Schools.  This year's guest is illustrator Harry Bliss.  Mr. Bliss will be giving two exciting and kid-friendly presentations at the Main location of the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library.  A book signing will follow both presentations and books will be available to purchase the day of the event.

Harry Bliss is a cartoonist and cover artist for The New Yorker magazine. Growing up in upstate New York amidst a family of successful painters and illustrators, Bliss went on to study painting at The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Illustration at The University of the Arts (BFA) and Syracuse University (MA). Prior to his cartoons and covers for The New Yorker magazine, Bliss illustrated dozens of book covers for writers such as Lawrence Block, Dorothy Uhnak, Bob Dole, and Fiona Buckley.

Bliss has illustrated many books and produces cartoons and covers for The New Yorker. His first book for children, A Fine, Fine School by Sharon Creech was a New York Times bestseller, as was Diary of a Worm, Diary of a Spider and Diary of a Fly all by Doreen Cronin. In 2008 Bliss published 'Louise, The Adventures of a Chicken' (Harper Collins) by Kate DiCamillo followed by 'Luke on the Loose' (Toon Books) in 2009.

Meet local author Frank Griffin

Tuesday, Feb. 9: Author Frank Griffin will speak about and sign copies of his memoir, Touched by Fire, an account of growing up in the 1950s and 1960s in a family of Alabama migrant farm workers. Frank's father, Johnny Frank Griffin, was knifed in 1954, a day after he'd told a Phenix City grand jury of what he'd seen in the moments after Attorney General-designate Albert Patterson's assassination. 10am - noon, Main Library 2nd Floor public meeting room. Meet illustrator Harry Bliss at the Great Big Book Bash

Friday, Feb. 19 & Saturday, Feb. 20: Bring your kids to the library for a knee-slapping, laugh-out-loud funny event that will spark their creativity! Bliss is best known for his illustrations in books like A Diary of a Worm by Doreen Cronin and A Fine, Fine School by Sharon Creech. In his presentations, Mr. Bliss will explain how he turns stories into art and then he will teach you how to create your own art.
