Understanding Type II Diabetes

The Murphy Writers Group is hosting a Spring Writers Event at The Coffee Tree Books and Brew on Thurs, March 21 at 6:00pm.

The event will include guest speaker, Aprill Smith; a progressive story; and readings by writing group members.

The event is free and open to the public. Recommended for ages 14+. Light refreshments will be served.

The Coffee Tree Books and Brew is located at 7900 Bailey Cove Rd SE, Huntsville, AL. The Murphy Writers Group meets twice a month at the Eleanor Murphy Library and is coordinated by Kemi Elufiede.

Learn about the Magical World of Hummingbirds at the Madison Public Library on Sunday, April 7, at 3:00 p.m.  Master Gardener Melissa Kirkindall will lead the workshop and teach us about the various aspects of hummingbirds, including how data is gathered, migration, breeding, and more.  Also, learn how to use landscaping to attract hummingbirds to your yard - invite them into your world!

Learn how to "Spruce Up for Spring Gardening" at the Madison Public Library on Saturday, March 23, at 3:00 p.m.  Master Gardener Karen Voelker will lead the workshop and give gardening tips to create a successful garden at your home.  Also, learn how to grow vegetables and "eat closer to the earth." 

Karen has been a Master Gardener for 16 years and is also involved with CASA (Care Assurance System for the Aging and Homebound) since 2001, with heavy emphasis on the CASA Community Garden.

Backyard Composting at Madison Public Library

Join us at the Madison Public Library for a Composting Workshop on Monday, March 18, at 6:30 p.m.   Master Gardener Bill Fuller will lead the “How-to” workshop for the backyard gardener, which will include what type of compost bin is recommended and which should not be used, what to use/not use in your bin, and various other aspects of the compost management system.

We will give away a compost bin as a door prize, so don’t miss your chance to take part in this workshop.

This class is free and open to the public.  No registration is required.
