Frank Bohlinger, CRNP, of Heart Center, Inc., gives an informative talk on what goes into a heart attack, how to prevent one, and what to do if you have one.

Virtual Field Trip! Series Favorites: Heroes, Scamps, and Sidekicks

This is a fun webcast that will feature your favorite series authors, R.L. Stine (author of Goosebumps), Kathryn Lasky (author of The Guardians of Ga'Hoole), Jim Benton (author of Dear Dumb Diary and Franny K. Stein) - plus a special appearance by Dav Pilkey (author of Captain Underpants)!  These authors will discuss how they make their series and characters come to life.  Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver (authors of Ghost Buddy and Hank Zipzer) will host this awesome webcast for kids in grades 3-5!

Drop in each Tuesday at 3:30 to learn more about the world around you.  Miss Lorena will be conducting some easy and quick science experiments based on basic science principles.  Some days will feature a special guest speaker from local science based organizations!  

How to Do Things: Introduction to Spinning on a Drop Spindle

Leader:  Melissa Lehman, member of Huntsville Fiber Guild.

Learn to spin yarn on a drop spindle.  No spinning experience is required.  The leader will bring all the tools and other supplies for use in class.

How to Do Things: Introduction to Weaving Bands on the Inkle Loom

Location: Second Floor Meeting Room

Leader:  Crystal Kitchens, member of Huntsville Fiber Guild.

Learn to weave on an inkle loom, which can be used to make narrow bands.  In class you will make a bookmark.  Begin to learn the language of weaving.  The inkle looms will be ready to use when you arrive, and you’ll learn how to dress an inkle loom.  No weaving experience is required.

How to Do Things: Make a 3-D Bow Tie Quilt Block

Leader:  Crystal Kitchens, member of Huntsville Fiber Guild.

Learn to sew a 3 dimensional bow tie quilt block by hand.  It’s an easy patchwork pattern, perfect for beginners. 

No hand sewing experience is required.  Bring a thimble if you need one.

The leader will bring all the tools and other supplies for use in class.

How to Do Things: Introduction to Crocheting a Rag Mug Rug

Leader:  Crystal Kitchens, member of Huntsville Fiber Guild.

Learn a few simple crochet stitches and crochet a mug rug from rag strips in class.  Learn how to start a round rug and an oval rug.  You will know how to continue the work at home to make a full sized rug if you want.  Bring a size P or size Q crochet hook and some tightly woven fabric, such as a sheet, to recycle.  No crochet experience is required.
