Health Forum: Hospice Care

Lee Shaw of Hospice Family Care discusses the process and issues involved in end-of-life care on Tuesday, March 25, from 11 a.m. to noon in the Events Room on the second floor of the Main Library downtown.

Hospice Family Care was founded in 1979 as the first hospice to serve Madison County and continues to be the only not-for-profit hospice agency in the community. Dr. Martin C. Weisskopf gives an insider’s look at NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, the world’s most powerful X-ray telescope.  He’ll discuss Chandra’s mission and the fascinating science behind X-ray telescopy.

Dr. Weisskopf is a project scientist for Chandra and Chief Scientist for X-ray Astronomy at Marshall Space Flight Center.  He is the recipient of numerous awards, including NASA Medals for Exceptional Service in 1992 and for Scientific Achievement in 1999. He was elected in 1994 as a Fellow of the American Physical Society, which cited his "pioneering work in X-ray polarimetry and time variability studies of cosmic X-ray sources, and his insightful leadership as Project Scientist for the Advanced X-ray Astrophysics Facility."  In 2006, he received the George W. Helping young adults with special needs

Amanda Clardy from Huntsville Hospital will discuss services available to young adults with special needs in our community on Friday, March 7, at noon during the Health Matters @ Madison program at the Madison Public Library.

This program is free to the public. For more information, contact the Madison Library at 256-461-0046 or madison@hmcpl.org.
