Bring your family and friends to Family Fun Night at the Main Branch of the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library!

The FREE after-hours program is Friday, April 11, from 6pm-9pm.

There will be a family friendly movie playing in the auditorium (7pm-9pm), camp fire story time with puppets and crafts for kids in the Youth Services area (6pm-7pm), and board games for all ages. Attendees are welcome to bring their own board games to share with new friends.

The Food Fighters Bustaurant food bus will be onsite for meal purchases.

To attend Family Fun Night, please bring a RSVP ticket for entrance into the building. Tickets are acessible online at http://tinyurl.com/hmcplfun. Each family will only need one ticket to enter.

Dr. Martin C. Weisskopf gives an insider’s look at NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, the world’s most powerful X-ray telescope.  He’ll discuss Chandra’s mission and the fascinating science behind X-ray telescopy.

Dr. Weisskopf is a project scientist for Chandra and Chief Scientist for X-ray Astronomy at Marshall Space Flight Center.  He is the recipient of numerous awards, including NASA Medals for Exceptional Service in 1992 and for Scientific Achievement in 1999. He was elected in 1994 as a Fellow of the American Physical Society, which cited his "pioneering work in X-ray polarimetry and time variability studies of cosmic X-ray sources, and his insightful leadership as Project Scientist for the Advanced X-ray Astrophysics Facility."  In 2006, he received the George W. Doug Horacek, home professional astronomer for the Von Braun Astronomical Society Imaging Team, discusses the team’s astrophotography work.  Camera light capturing capability sees more than the eye, so photography is the way to really see space.  Doug explains how astrophotography works and reveals some of the team’s projects, including Orion and nearby deep space objects.

This program is part of a 4-week companion series to the NASA Here, There, and Everywhere exhibit on display at the Main Branch Library.
