The Big Read Kick-Off at Burritt Museum!
Burritt and The Big Read bring Tom Sawyer’s adventures to life!
Burritt on the Mountain and the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library are teaming up to bring you the kick-off event for The Big Read 2010 featuring the The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain. This beloved classic is being read at this time throughout the State of Alabama.
Mark your calendars for March 27th and be to sure visit Burritt on the Mountain’s historic park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a FREE event featuring learning stations that will make Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn’s escapades come alive!
Participate in the church scene as poor dead Tom returns home, learn more about those critters the boys were always trading, and play a game of marbles. Plan to help us do some whitewashing, and decide for your self if it is work or play! You can also learn about the kinds of caves Tom and Huck used as their secret hideouts, and be sure not to miss the chance to taste some delectable foods such as ham, cornbread, and sweet meats.
