Author Event: Dave Laurence Rogers
Join us as award-winning journalist and historian D. Laurence Rogers discusses his book Apostles of Equality: The Birneys, the Republicans, and the Civil War, featuring the Birney family and their activities in politics and war.
The first biographical account of the life of James Gillespie Birney in more than fifty years, this insightful history illuminates and elevates an all-but-forgotten figure whose political career contributed mightily to the American political fabric.
Huntsville’s own Topper Birney will introduce Dave and field questions during Q&A as well.
Co-hosted by the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library and J. F. Drake Memorial Learning Resources Center, Alabama A&M University.
Auditorium
The auditorium is located on the first floor of the Main Library. After opening the exterior doors of the Main Library, immediately turn right. The auditorium is located straight ahead, at the end of the hallway.
