Beck McDowell, Huntsville young adult author, is a former middle and high school AP English teacher. Her novel THIS IS NOT A DRILL was published by Penguin on 10/25/12, and she also wrote LAST BUS OUT. She and her students built notrequiredreading.com to help teens find good books and her blog can be found at www.beckmcdowell.com . 

Ms McDowell was recently in the news with her generous donation in response to the Sandy Hook tragedy.
