Rug Braiding at Madison
Learn how to make a braided rug at the Madison Public Library on Friday, March 22. During the workshop you will learn the skills needed to make a braided "mug rug". You can continue your project at home to make a full-size rug. Learn to prepare the fabric strips, how to braid the strips, and how to lace the braids into round and oval rugs. No sew or braiding experience is needed.
The supply fee of $5 will include a "Braidkin" (flat needed), lacing cord, and sewing thread. Participants need to bring firmly woven fabric, such as a sheet, which has been washed and dried. This will be used to recycle into your mug rug or full-size rug. Bring a thimble if you need one.
The class will be from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. so please bring a sack lunch. Ages 14+ are welcome. Space is limited so reservations are required.
