Speaker: Dr. Jennifer C. Garlen, author of Beyond Casablanca: 100 Classic Movies Worth Watching
Author and independent scholar Dr. Jennifer C. Garlen will share tips and experiences about writing for a variety of non-fiction projects, including freelance work, books for traditional publishers, and self-published books. She will talk about the ways in which each kind of non-fiction writing differs and what writers can expect from each process.
Dr. Jennifer C. Garlen received her PhD in English from Auburn University, where she specialized in eighteenth-century British literature. Now a writer and independent scholar in Huntsville, AL, Jennifer is the "National Classic Movies Examiner" for Examiner.com and the author of Beyond Casablanca: 100 Classic Movies Worth Watching. She is also the co-editor of the 2009 McFarland book, Kermit Culture, and of the forthcoming book, The Wider Worlds of Jim Henson.
