Meet the Author: Jeff Norrell

Award-winning historian Robert J. Norrell talks about his first fiction book, Eden Rise.

This critically acclaimed novel depicts a young man embroiled in a civil-rights conflict that divides his family, his town, and his own identity.

William Heath, author of The Children Bob Moses Led, and historian Dan T. Carter both call Eden Rise “gripping.”  Allen Wier, author of Tehano, remarks on Norrell’s “keen sense of place and the nuances of character” and calls the tale “realistic and haunting.”

Jeff's 2009 biography, Up from History: the Life of Booker T. Washington, was received with national praise.  His Reaping the Whirlwind: The Civil Rights Movement in Tuskegee won the Robert F. Kennedy Book Award in 1986.
