How to Do Things: Sprang

Maximum number of students (age 14+):  8.
Crystal Kitchens of Huntsville Fiber Guild shows this ancient method of constructing a fabric with natural elasticity.  We’ll make a small drawstring bag in class.  The fabric appears similar to netting.  Sprang is closely related to braiding, and is done with threads stretched on a frame.  The fabric builds from both ends toward the middle.

Bring an all wire coat hanger to make the frame, and size 10 crochet cotton.  No weaving experience is required.

Crystal will bring all other tools and supplies for use in class.
