Views of Alabama Historic Lodgings

In the late 19th century most Alabama towns, no matter how small, usually had an inn or hotel for weary travelers.  These early buildings were usually simple wooden structures with inviting verandas.  For the more affluent traveler there were also fancy resorts and spas that offered an escape from the heat and miasmas that blanketed Alabama in the summer.  This program provides a visual tour of many of the early accommodations from the Colonial Inn at Fairhope to the Mentone Inn in the northeast corner of the state.
