Proclamation: Helen P. Lee Day
Helen P. Lee Day

Whereas, Helen P. Lee served as the Branch Manager of the Madison Public Library from June 30, 2003 until her death on January 16, 2008; and
Whereas, Helen P. Lee selected outstanding materials and collections and planned and implemented many programs and services for the Madison community through her leadership and management of the Madison Public Library; and
Whereas, the circulation usage of the Madison Public Library grew by 55%, over 44,250 items were added to the collection, and nearly 16,000 new patrons were registered for library cards under Helen P. Lee’s management; and
Whereas, Helen P. Lee worked in close partnership with churches, schools, community groups and the Friends of the Madison Public Library to establish and maintain the Library as a true community center for all Madison residents; and
Whereas, Helen P. Lee was well-liked and respected by the staff and patrons of the Madison Public Library and all who knew her
Now, therefore, I, Arthur Kirkindall, Mayor of the city of Madison, Alabama do hereby proclaim the day of
January 21, 2008
as
Helen P. Lee Day
in the City of Madison, Alabama.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Madison, Alabama to be affixed, this 18th day of January, 2008.
