LQFall2017. 1-2 Open to the public. This will be a two part presentation of 9/11 then and now.
Immediately following the 9/11 New York City event Dr. N. Jane Roark, Staff psychiatrist, Huntsville-Madison County Mental Health Center, spent two weeks helping at the site.. Through power point presentation she will take us on a virtual “walk about” that she did every day, telling of her focus, interventions and efforts to support the helpers.
Jeff Birdwell, Director of the Emergency Management Agency for Huntsville, will join us to discuss ways our community deals with the effects of disasters on the local population. EMA uses an integrated emergency management approach which includes four areas: mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery. They work with Homeland Security, FEMA and the Madison Co. Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) to keep us safe in these perilous times.
