Fandom Tuesday: Supernatural

Calling all hunters, angels, and demons to call a one night only peace for a library celebration of the Supernatural fandom.  The games, costumes, episode showing, and pie will be so amazing that even Castiel would crack a smile.  Join in on July 15th at 6 pm!

 Being consummate fans of the Simon Snow series helped Cath and her twin sister, Wren, cope as little girls whose mother left them, but now, as they start college but not as roommates, Cath fears she is unready to live without Wren holding her hand--and without her passion for Snow.

Studio Arts @ the Bailey Cove Library: Paper Flowers & Origami

Join us this afternoon for a free art/craft "getaway". This month's theme is paper flowers and origami!  We will start with a slide show, a few demos, then time for each participant to create as many beautiful items as possible in the given time. Supplies will be provided. Stay tuned for a new theme each month!

The class size is limited to 30, ages 14-adult. Please sign up at the front desk at Bailey Cove Library, or call 256-881-0257 to be added to the class.

Kick off Summer Reading at Madison Public Library. This year, we've expanded the fun!

On Saturday, June 7th @ 8am at the Madison Public Library, don't miss the chance to participate in fun runs & relay races, get your questions answered at a parenting health fair, touch big trucks, eat some birthday cake, learn about animals, AND sign up for Summer Reading! The fun will happen 8am-11am. Don't miss it!.

Bollywood Film Series

What: Bollywood Film Series

When: 5:30 p.m. Every Monday Night Beginning June 9th-July 7th

Where: Second Floor Events Room at the Main Branch

Join us as we celebrate our fourth annual Bollywood Film Series with traditional Indian food, henna, saris, and Bollywood films! The film series begins Monday June 9th, and will be every Monday night for five weeks. The activities will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the film will begin at 6:00 p.m. thereafter. Note: Admission is free. Some films may not be appropriate for young audiences, parental discretion is advised.

Schedule & Information:                                                                                                                                                 

June 9th: Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (159 mins)

-Activity: We will sample traditional East Indian food before the movie begins.

June 16th: Krrish 3 (152 mins)

-Activity: A few Hindi phrases and sayings will be taught to introduce the primary language in the  Bollywood films.

June 23rd: Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (155 mins)

-Activity: Demonstration of how to wear the traditional Indian dress, the sari.

June 30th: Chennai Express (141 mins)

-Activity: Henna will be provided to apply these temporary tattoos in traditional patterns.

July 7th: Teri Meri Kahaani (125 mins)

-Activity: We will end our Bollywood film series with exploring contemporary music!
