DIY Anime: Engrish Karuta

Karuta is a traditional Japanese matching game. In it, a poem is read and players attempt to find the matching 2nd half of the poem before their opponent.  Since we can’t read Japanese, we’ll be mixing it up a bit by using classic English poetry with a Japanese twist!

DIY Anime: Kokeshi Dolls

Kokeshi are cute little dolls originally given away at hot springs.  Traditionally made by carving wood, we’ll show you a simple way to make your own at home!

DIY Anime: Karaoke

We’ll be belting out our favorite anime songs until the tomatoes come flying!  Grab your friends and sing to your heart’s content!

DIY Anime: Operation Green Team & Cherry Blossom Art

Operation Green Team will be giving tips on responsibly caring for the earth (so we don’t end up in a Nausicaa or Origin–type situation).  Afterwards, we will create easy Cherry Blossom paintings to take home!

DIY Anime: Soot Sprite Cookies

Indulge your sweet tooth AND your anime obsession by learning to make cookies that look like Miyazaki’s Soot Sprites!  These are super-easy no-bake delights that even beginning cooks can make!

Anime Beach Ball

Every comic anime has a beach episode, right?  And we are no exception!  (Except that we’re not *technically* an anime, but whatever.)  Get into your beach-comber cosplay duds and join us for a party at Library Beach.
