Helen P. Lee Memorial Fun Run

Join us at Madison Public Library for our Summer Reading kickoff event, including the annual Helen P. Lee Memorial Fun Run, on Saturday, June 1, from 8 to 10 a.m.

Kids can participate in Fun Runs and goofy relay races, sign up for Summer Reading, get their faces painted and much more!

Relay races are sponsored by Nesin Physical Therapy. There will be runs for different ages, including a stroller race for moms and tots. The Madison Fire Department will be on hand with a fire truck. Kids can enjoy Hoola Hoops Zumba, and parents can get their child car seats checked for safety.

For more information, please contact Teresa Allison at 256-461-0046 or email tallison [at] hmcpl [dot] org.

The Fun Run honors the memory of Helen P. Lee, who served as the branch manager of the Madison Public Library from June 30, 2003, until her death on January 16, 2008. Under her management, the circulation usage of the Madison Public Library grew by 55%, more than 44,250 items were added to the collection, and nearly 16,000 new patrons were registered for library cards.

Support Madison Library at town hall meeting

Supporters of the Madison Public Library are asked to voice that support on Tuesday, May 21, at 6:30 p.m. at Madison City Hall.

Hello Dear Storytime Families and Library Users

Madison Public Library needs supporters at the Town Hall meeting tomorrow night, since the library addition is on the new Capital Improvement Plan, but currently unfunded. If you're in favor, we need to see our Friends in the crowd and on the microphone to show and tell about our support!

This is the most important public meeting to date. We really need you there.

You can see the complete list of proposed city projects here:

Tuesday, May 21, at 6:30 p.m. at Madison City Hall to take public input regarding a proposed 1/2 cent sales tax increase to fund the new Capital Improvements Plan.
