College Readiness tackles the big issue - how to pay for a degree - with college planning consultant Lynn O’ Shaughnessy on Tuesday, March 6 at 5 p.m. in the auditorium of the main library.

Lynn is a blogger for US News & World Report, CBS Money Watch, and The College Solution and is also the author of Shrinking the Cost of College: 152 Ways to Shrink the Price of a Bachelor’s Degree.  Lynn will join us via Skype to share her indispensable knowledge on making college affordable.

Geek Prom celebrates Valentine's Day

Geek out with Bailey Cove on Valentine's Day for GEEK PROM 2012!

Celebrate Valentine's Day the geeky way at the Bailey Cove Branch Library. Dress in your best geek wear (or come in costume as a famous geek, Dr. Who or Harry Potter, for example). The party is set for Tuesday, February 14, at 6 p.m. There will be dancing, craft-making, games and yummy snacks.

College Readiness: Writing the College Essay

Prep for college by attending our College Readiness Series, beginning with a workshop on writing essays for college applications on February 7.

Joe Freeman, guidance counselor and high school English instructor at Randolph School, will share expert advice on writing essays for college applications on Tuesday, February 7, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the main library. Admission is free.

A Celebration of African American History through Dance

 

Join Dance Theater of Huntsville as they celebrate the African American History through dance.  During the Black History performance, they will present tributes to Gospel, Alvin Ailey,  African dance and Hip Hop.

African American Authors Preschool Storytime

 

Celebrate African American History month with Storytime!  Enjoy some of your favorite stories written by African American authors.  Donald Crews, Jerry Pinkney,  Pat Cummings, and Julius Lester will all be part of this celebration of African American books for children.
