Classic Films in Focus

Jennifer Garlen, author of Kermit Culture: Critical Perspectives on Jim Henson’s Muppets, will present a film/lecture series on two classic films from Hollywood’s golden age. This is the first event of an ongoing series exploring movies from her new book, Beyond Casablanca: 100 Classic Films Worth Watching.

“Classic Films in Focus” will screen The African Queen (1951), starring Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn, on Monday, December 3, and It’s a Wonderful Life (1946), starring James Stewart and Donna Reed, on Monday, December 10. Both films will be shown at 6 p.m. in the second-floor events room of the Main Library. Admission is free.
