Statement on HMCPL Closure

Dear Library Patrons,

The Huntsville-Madison County Public Library is committed to welcoming and serving the community while also offering a safe environment for both customers and staff.

Based on advice from local public health officials, we have made the decision to close as of 5:00 p.m. today. All 12 locations will be closed until further notice.

For customers who have borrowed library materials in your possession, we are extending loan periods during this time, so you do not need to return materials until we are back in full operation. We will renew your items and waive fines for items that are due during this closure, so rest assured.

Additionally, our digital resources are always available to download. With the touch of a button, you can have both entertainment and educational opportunities at your fingertips like:

e-books via our Digital Media Zone
Homework Alabama via tutor.com
e-books with Freading
Music with Freegal

We will be sure to keep customers and staff informed of any updates. Please continue to check this site and our social media channels for the latest library news, digital and educational resources. Be sure to look for our librarians airing story times via our YouTube channel and through Facebook.
