A Visit with Harriet Tubman

What was it like to be a member of the Underground Railroad? You can ask Harriet Tubman!  On Thursday, February 3 @ 4:00pm, a historical re-enactor will visit the Main Library and bring Harriet Tubman to life!   Learn more about brave Harriet Tubman:  African American abolitionist, humanitarian, and Union spy during the Civil War.   This is a great way to kick off African American History month!

Make and Take Crafts

Drop in each Wednesday between 3:00-7:00 p.m. for a simple make and take craft  This is a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to interact and make some fun memories.

Rowdy Reading Round-Up

Join Mr. Shane for a rowdy and rambunctious storytime.  This storytime is perfect for pre-readers and beginning readers alike!  Mr. Shane will share 2-3 books, add in some fun music time, and finish with an exciting craft. 

Storytime FUN!

Join Miss Lexie each Thursday for a super fun Preschool Storytime.  Using a different theme each week, Miss Lexie will read 3-4 books and lead songs, fingerplays, and rhymes to prepare children for reading.  The storytime will finish up with a craft, designed to strengthen fine motor skills.

Chess Club

The skills learned in a game of Chess (problem solving, strategy, listening, speaking, and increased concentration just to name a few) can greatly benefit a child as they grow.  But did you know studies have show Chess can actually increase a child’s IQ?  Come work up some brain power with our Chess Club every Thursday.

Music and Rhyme Time

Research has shown early music experiences can have a significant impact on literacy, language, social, and math skills later in life.  In this program children will experience sing alongs, musical instrument activities, rhythm & movement, and of course a musical story!
