Library Foundation
A city cannot be great without a great Library. The Huntsville Library Foundation's mission is to help the Huntsville Madison County Public Library be great. As advocates for the Library, we raise awareness and funds to purchase books and other resources that the Library uses to inspire readers and improve our community's quality of life.
The Huntsville Library Foundation is a fund-raising, advisory board which meets monthly to lead the Library toward growth and expansion. A voluntary board of 15 community leaders established in 1986, their duties reflect their strong support of the Library's purposes. Utilizing fundraising, advocacy, governmental bodies, Library support groups, grant writing, endowment funds, and planned giving the HLF creates new avenues for our Library's development in the future.

The Huntsville Library Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization.
Our Responsibilities
- The Board has fiduciary responsibility for all funds raised through Vive le Livre, The Great Big Book Bash, and other special Foundation events and therefore approves all expenditures from those funds for the benefit of the Library and its branches.
- Provides fundraising advice and contacts to the extent possible.
- It seeks effective ways to build a well-informed constituency of support at those times when public funding of the Library is on the ballot.
- Directors serve as spokespeople for the Library Foundation within the community.
- Reviews and approves policy recommendations for the Foundation through Board action.
